"Can you see anything?" it was all I could do to get out the words, "Yes, wonderful things."*

Wonderful things indeed!! I have finally found the anthropoid coffin of the most magnificent goober that ever lived....King Nut!! Look at the glow of the golden coffin, the colors of the royal hieroglyph coffee mug...

Feast your eyes on this...

oh, never mind, it's just Mr. Peanut...*sigh*
This cute pattern was designed by a fellow raveler & is available free on Ravelry.....

Oh My Goodness!! SWEATER PEOPLE!!!

On one of my forays to find sweaters to "recycle" into yarn I came across this sweater. I don't wear sweaters that often & especially ones with lots of decorations, (they are cute but just don't "work" on me). However, I can appreciate the workmanship & creativity of these embellishments and as for this sweater, I LOVE IT!! The little people are cute & happy! In fact, for the time being, it's my new (& first) title photo.

The yarn is cotton but there is no way I can take this sweater apart, NO WAY!! No, I would love to try to make it into a tote or pillow or something. Or maybe even a framed piece to inspire me. Who knows. For now it will be posted here so I can look at it. The real sweater will probably find it's way into the bottom of my projects pile, which is far too large.

Today is Lazy Cat Day!

Oh yea, that's every day!

I Just LOVE this book...

Stupid Sock Creatures by John Murphy!! a fun book, it always makes me laugh! Here's my own stupid-inspired sock creature. Don't know what she is or how she came to be. My daughter gave me these very old socks of hers & I just started "doing" & well, here she is.
Not to be outdone, the "cats" had to get in on the act...
& it's not that the cats are stupid, they just want to make sure I had cleared this photo shoot with them. They take their territory quite seriously.

New drug of choice....

Don't you just LOVE a bargain! Man it gives you such a high to get something for practically nothing, regardless of need. Just kidding about the latter part. At any rate, I've been reading the Thrifty Knitter & Unraveled groups on Ravelry & not to be left behind, I too have begun to scour the thrift shops for sweaters to unravel into YARN... HAPPY, COLORFUL BALLS OF YARN!!! Never mind that I have enough yarn to knit a coozie for my entire house. It's the thrill of the hunt & the unexpected finds. I'm psyched!

So far I have gotten 3 pink sweaters, 1 turquoise, (my favorite color), 1 medium blue, (also a fav), a peach that is too gorgeous to frog but alas it doesn't fit me & my prize, the Wedgewood blue silk sweater. I'm in unraveling heaven! Most of the sweaters are cotton & cotton blends as there's not much call for wool down here.

The funny thing about this is my hoarding behavior. Shhhh, come closer so no one will hear...if word gets out down here the prices will go up & then I may as well buy the yarn as yarn, right?? One local thrift shop is already on to bargain hunters regarding current trends. Knowing that knitting & crocheting is so popular they price all of their yarns accordingly, (in their minds). Don't get me wrong, I love the folks who run this store & their proceeds help so many people in need BUT they have skeins of name-brand acrylic in plain colors priced at $2 a skein. I can get the big skeins new (& dust-free) for $2.47.

I meant to take a picture of all of the sweaters before I started unraveling them but I couldn't help myself. My hands started itching to get started & well, some of them are already in various stages of unravel.

Does this mean I'm cured of my chicken & felting & felted chicken addictions??? Naaaahhhh!!

I Didn't Need This Until I Got Married....

My husband likes to preface all of his aches, pains & gray hair with "I didn't have this before I got married". Well right back at 'cha Sir...I didn't have to take glucosamine supplements before I got married. Sigh...Hey, I just hope it works 'cause my hands hurt SO MUCH!! And it's happened so quickly, it seems. Not only that, I don't have as much strength & dexterity in them. So today is my first day on the glucosamine stuff. I'll let you know how it goes.
Oh & a few months ago I bought the crochet hook set you see in the picture. It was only $20.00 at Walmart. So far I have no complaints. In fact I rather like it. Granted it hasn't miraculously cured my hands, but it's worth a try, right? Only downside to them so far is really just an irritation, which I promptly fixed; labeling the spaces, which I took care of as you can see.

Remember all of my felting lust???

Well, here are the results. Free patterns for both crocheted & knitted versions can be found in the Summer 2009 issue of Crochet Uncut. Please check them out & as always make them for friends, as gifts, to sell, whatever...just remember me as the designer. Thanks!

I'm calling this my "Chicken Period"...

Yes, as I continue looking to "channel" my "inner chicken" , a theme is definately taking shape in my crafting. These two ladies were needle felted & were so easy and fun to do.

Their names are Madame Poulet & Miss Lucy. Madame Poulet was born in New Orleans, where she ran a hen house for a few years before moving to the Gulf Coast, with her cousin & protege` Miss Lucy. They both enjoy scratching & picking around the yard & an occasional fermented grape that has fallen off the vine, to help relax their nerves, mind you.

Don't you just LOVE a man in uniform???

Speaking of floats...

Having grown up, for the most part, near the beach, I LOVE the smell of vinyl,(the kind floats are made of). It smells like summer.

Uh huh, now that's what I'm talking about...visable tan lines!!"Tan don't burn get a Coppertone tan!" sigh

Oh & Coppertone suntan lotion. PLEASE don't ever change the fragrance formula Coppertone Company or the name for that matter. Sure, we're not supposed to sunbathe anymore & yadda, yadda, the name "Coppertone" may not make much sense now but hey it's tradition. And, just between you & me, I WANT to have copper-toned skin again, even though I don't.
