Becci's Flower Basket...

Here's what's happening on the hooks...
A Ravelry friend designed this beautiful rose motif called Tudor Rose. Once I saw it and tried it out I was hooked and kept thinking that a string of these roses would look so fun & happy around a summer tote.

I do love crochet but have not really done much in the way of motif crocheting. And now I'm wondering why the heck not? They are a fun way to use up yarn leftovers and to add a punch of  color to a project. And this particular application has satisfied both of those goals and then some with it's 3 dimensional flower petals.
Here you see the Tudor Rose in worsted cotton yarn and in SUPER bulky yarn. FUN!

Works in progress photos...

Tote is 3/4th's of the way finished. Will post the finished results soon.

The body of the tote is crocheted from an upcycled cotton sweater that I unravelled. The yarn is held quadruple and is worked with an N/9 mm hook. The tote is turning out to be very large but I am liking that very much as it can easily double for a beach bag now.
In this picture you can see that I am working directly from the detached sleeves rather than winding the yarn in a ball first, ( I remembered to do this only after winding the front and back sweater panels). This is a really neat timesaver with the added bonus of not having yarn balls rolling all over while working.

I love hot, bright colors, especially in summer. Kind of brings to mind the REAL bright, hot flowers of summer.

  1. Love, love, love all the colors. I can't wait to see your finished beach bag...I know it's going to be lovely.

Wow, the picture of all the flowers on the porch is just awesome!

Thank you for the lovely splash of flowers and color today. :)

  2. Good job! Can't wait to see it when it's finished!
